Gimpy Camper

Приєднався 6 лип 2018
This channel is designed to be a combination of a backpacking/ rv camping tips and gear review channel combination with a twist. As the name suggests, I have a disability. So I will have special segments on tips for doing things with disabilities in mind. I hope to bring good content that inspires and shows what you can do if you really apply yourself. People tell me all the time that I inspire them. It was never my goal, I just get up and do what I set my mind out to complete. I can handle constructive criticism so feel free to share.
Granted Engineering Take 2
I have had a failure of all these bars. I can't recommend them. I did receive these for an honest review. But sadly I can't say that they work great. I'm always transparent with you guys and I'll never feed you full of lies.
Hey guys, this is Barratt with the Gimpy Camper. Last year we did a video on these shower bars from granted engineering. After we installed them they were fine on our trips from TN to New Orleans, Washington DC, and Michigan. However, when we arrived in SD and released our original video about a week later we had a failure of the shower bars. The failure that we initially saw was the tape coming off of the wall. I reached out to Granted Engineering and they stated that it was because I had the shower bars hyper-extended. During my first video, I believe I made note that the bars were extended a little further than I would prefer. I actually didn't agree with this at first as I don't think the tape should have been released for this. However, on further inspection, there were a couple of the bars that started splitting at the junction where the bars come together. Before ordering any of these bars I would place your shampoo on the shelf and measure the area across where the bar would go. If this is greater than 11.5 inches these bars are not recommended. Their specifications say that these bars work with most rv showers on the market.
Granted engineering did reach out and send me a couple of replacement bars that should work better for our shower. Before they sent this email I had already ordered a shampoo dispenser to install in the camper and just go another route. We will be reviewing this shortly. However, since I do have the replacement bars we will also give them a try.
They actually sent me two replacement versions. The first version is the extra tall shower bar. It can be adjusted from 9" in length to 13" in length. It's also 2.25" high.
The second version is the extra-long shower bar. This is the one that extends the furthest. It can be adjusted from 12" to 20" in length.
I have been using both of these replacements and have driven 1500 miles with them on and they aren't showing any sign of failure like the previous versions. These look like they will be doing the trick, just also realize they do retail for more than the original set.
Thanks for following the update guys and thanks for being a part of our family we will keep you posted on how these products are holding up over time.

Tireminder Maintenance and Tips/Hacks Hey guys it's Barratt with the Gimpy Camper. So today I wanted to talk about tireminder issues that I've run into and help you get your system back up and running. The most common issue is sensor errors where the system doesn't pick up the sensor. For those of you that don't know the sensor measures the tire pressure often but at a lower energy level. This ...

Hey guys it's Barratt with the Gimpy Camper. I got the feeling a few months ago that I wanted to install a bidet on the RV toilet. It was around prime day so I was looking and found a couple of decent deals on some bidets. So I thought I'd get two different onces. The Prime day limit was one per order so by having two it also let me get a good deal. I will say it was a lot easier to install in ...

That being said, I cannot recommend this product any longer and have taken down ...
Alffaa 1500 Watt Inverter Little Guy Max

The Alffaa 1500-watt pure sine wave inverter was added to our Little Guy Max project. This has been an excellent budget-friendly inverter so far. It was easy to install and full of features. For now we have decided to not install any additional wiring but we may end up adding a dedicated outlet inside the camper. However, this is likely going to be very limited use and when boondocking they usu...

Andersen Ultimate Hitch 3 Year Review
Very good and good Morning
Discount tire does tpms rebuild stems that are metal, I had them on two different campers now, and I will say that this last time(about ten days ago now) I had to argue with them about it, the long time employee kept telling me we don't do that anymore. The manager finally heard the argument, he went out into the shop without saying a word, when he return he set four of them on the counter infront of the 25yr employee, and said yes we do. I can be an ass at times and said get that man a raise. Anyway they do still do it, you have to tell them to use the tpms rebuild valve stems, and might have to ask for the manager. Hoping the manager is worth a damn.
Oh and my last camper that this was done on was a 2015 keystone with wheels that look just like yours.
It’s beautiful to spend time with the family! The three cubs were si cute but nice to see them from afar 😅😊
Do you have an update as to did that solution eventually last?
Yes it’s great. Never had to even tighten it. Still voted best solution
There is an alternate route that avoids that mountain. My GPS took me that way before and it was curvy 😂
It’s really not that bad but yes there are easier ways to
Where do you get bar clamps that long? Or did you just get your own bar and attach it to your clamps?
Yes bar clamps just go on any length of bar. It’s a mess and if I had it to do over again I would have used aluminum or new fiberglass
Question- Where should I place a jack, for a single axle Dexter Torsion axle trailer? Im told to not place a load on the axle square tube itself. Thanks
I don’t have any experience with this but you can ask Steve on his channel I’ll post a link

over head crane will make it easy lol. I have this exact hitch, but the cabof my truck has a fairing kind of thing on it that stick out about an extra 3 inches. i can only turn about 30 degrees without the slider. i used your video as the how to for direction
Thanks Barrett, great tips
Thank you, good tips and advice!
Great vid. I’m doing a very similar setup and glad I found your install.
Overall I’ve been happy with it but I do wish I used a 3000 watt inverter
Wow impressive wonder if that work on my Honda?
I have an updated video but I had issues with this exhaust. I actually found with the predator an exhaust clamp and a diesel heater exhaust worked best
@@GimpyCamper interesting to grab some US ideas and use them here in Australia. @biglap.aus
Thank you!!
<<<knocking on my hard head>>> my i10 has been flawless for about 18 months now. I had an issue with my display and their customer service couldn't have been any better! My repeater is on the driver's side landing leg with the antennas pointing down to the road as well and I keep my connection even when the display is in the house like 70' away.
Thank you for all the great info
How do you take the glass off
You have to remove the whole assembly with the frame which is what is shown here
My oring shrank inside the handle and gas pours out
Yeah I’ve had issues but this video isn’t public yet Terapump update ua-cam.com/video/Hc-2OQPbCc4/v-deo.html
What ac system is this?
SereneLife SLPAC Portable Air... www.amazon.com/dp/B07RMZV7W4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It has a heater too. Works good I just wish the drain system had a better design
How big is the AC unit on your camper? Does it struggle? Do you have a soft start?
It’s a 15k it does fine but I do power management. I use propane for water heater and fridge, mainly because the fridge had a hard time with the automatic function so if we are off grid I leave it on propane. I do have a soft start but that was to help with some other issues I had with some custom installed wiring. It works fine from the factory plug. The microwave has tripped it a couple times with the air on.
I'm living the same hell right now, and I'm just tired of the trial and error in 115 degree weather. I just want to be done with it and take the family camping somewhere cooler so I get it. Good video.
I hope it turns out better for you than it did me
What size of hosing did you get?
The links were in the description 2.5CM/1in Inner Stainless Steel... www.amazon.com/dp/B094NC59P8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@GimpyCamper Thanks, it gives the link… but not the size, there’s several on that link. I highly appreciate it! I’m curious if this modification helped your Predator run better? My exhaust is so bad I have to clean my spark arrestor constantly
@@Candy_Mountain I can’t tell a difference in how it runs but I’ve not had the spark arrestor for a long time
Thank you for tips on the tools. Just ordered me a set.

Ours exploded while we were watching TV. Very un-safe. Serves no purpose.
Ours just shattered for no logical reason. We weren't even using it at the time. Very un-safe
We've got two of these vortex fans installed in our travel trailer. We've had them for about 4 plus years now and they continue to work great. We do spray them with a little silicone when they start making a little bit of noise- Kyle
Sorry about the loss of your father🙏
They reached out to us but glad we never worked with them after seeing your follow up.
Thanks for the review Barrett. Yes, we've gone through three of the vinyl stickers in the 4 years. We've had our RV door lock, but we're lucky enough to get the new silicone number system when we were at the quartzsite RV show this past year. It's a much better design though. You do have to disassemble the entire door lock to install. It.- Kyle
We've had great luck with ours but battery usage has been pretty high for sure - we replace ours twice a year. I've started liking the key fob for one reason: I don't keep it on my keychain. I keep it in the truck in my center console. When I pull up to the camper I can just hit the button and save a step if I'm about to carry some groceries in. Nice "Battery Daddy" by the way. :) We have the same thing and it's great, too.
It's great that you know how to do these top of things. We love it when vendors reach out to us and always try to do an honest review. Lynn and Danny
Oh no. It's always something. Lynn and Danny
I enjoy your humble honesty. A true Southern DIYer, trial, error, learn, redo. 😊
We have had "KNOCK ON WOOD" great success with RVLock since 2014 when we bought the rv. It was one of the first things we changed.
RV Lock Bites the Dust :)
Win some loose some. Sorry
Looks like it checks the boxes .1500 watt is a decent size for smaller items.
The water isn't glowing green...😂...the nuclear plant is fine 😂 Loved hanging out with all y'all! Thank you for the shout out ❤ We always look forward to hanging out with The Gimpy Camper!
Excellent in depth review. I'm in the process of upgrading from a bumper pull to a 5th wheel trailer. Definitely considering the Anderson. Thanks for your honest review.
It’s served me well. Just pulled it 700 miles this weekend but I’d still consider the Reese goosebox or the gen y gooseneck conversion
I heard that you never jack up on the axle and to only use the frame.
If you do research, you will hear people say both ways and everything is supposedly bad. This is why I asked someone who works on RVs professionally what the proper way is. They always use the axle as far on the end as possible and never jack by the frame. We have a whole video on this as well. ua-cam.com/video/UXKYnB1Xu3s/v-deo.htmlsi=h7lKzyxmIHiF7euC
